Before becoming an opera singer, Hermann Breiting first studied medicine, but his voice was so remarkable that he chose the stage instead. He performed successful in cities such as Berlin, Vienna and London during the 19th century.

The colours and composition of this portrait gives it a classic look. It stands out in an elegant way and works well in a study, hallway or music room.
