A truly exceptional and rare find — a matched pair of antique wall sconces by Maison Baguès, one of the most celebrated names in French decorative lighting. Crafted in Paris circa 1870–1880, these two-arm sconces feature exquisitely hand-wrought bronze in an elaborate floral and daisy motif, rising from a marbleized urn base with mixed patinated and gilt metal tones. Each arm is fitted with a crystal bobeche and candle socket, with delicate crystal accents throughout.
The craftsmanship is unmistakably Baguès — intricate, deeply detailed, and executed with the kind of artisanal precision that defined the maison's 19th century output. A central jeweled flower medallion serves as the focal point of each sconce, surrounded by naturalistic leaves, stems, and blooms rendered in richly patinated bronze.
Offered with original purchase receipt from Sylvain Lévy-Alban, Antiquaire, 14 Rue de Beaune, Paris 75007, dated November 26, 2001, explicitly identifying these as Baguès, Paris, 19th century, and guaranteed over 100 years old at time of purchase.
