An exceptionally well-preserved vintage Spode Stafford Flowers tea service, purchased new in England during 1989 and retained by its original owner.
Made of English fine bone china, this richly decorated service features a different botanical composition on each side of the teapot, covered sugar bowl, and creamer. Elaborate 22-karat gold detailing accents the sculptural handles, rims, finials, borders, and teapot spout.
The three piece service comprises five physical components: a teapot and lid, covered sugar bowl with lid, and creamer. Each vessel bears the Spode Fine China England backstamp with the Stafford Flowers pattern designation Y8519; the sugar bowl lid is unmarked.
This service is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, crazing, repairs, staining, or discernible loss to the gilding were found. The unglazed foot rims retain normal contact marks consistent with age. Please review the detailed photographs. Teapot: 6" H x 9.75" W: Approximately 4-5 cup capacity. Sugar bowl: 4.5" H x 6.5" W, Creamer: 4" H x 5.25" W. Combined unpacked weight is 2 lb. 4.3 oz. Original period Spode Stafford Flowers literature is included. Hand Washing recommended, not suitable for microwave because of the gold decoration.
