The horses and wagon measures approx. 19 1/4 inches long, 5 3/4 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches tall. American, Ohio, early 20th Century. Gibbs Manufacturing Company. Pair of wooden, litho detailed horses attached to hay wagon. Wooden wagon has original red paint and metal wheels. Last photo is from a Gibbs 1908 advertisement, sourced from Richard Mueller, Jr., Old Wood Toys website. Overall, good antique condition. Shows wear commensurate with age and use. Originally designed to function as wagon wheels turn, the legs of the horses move simultaneously. This function is still fully operational, yet the front axle rivet has become loose and jams into the underside of the wagon, preventing continual motion. This could be repaired fairly easily if desired. Over 60% of original litho horse imagery remains and over 90% of red paint on wagon remains. See photos. Displays charming, Shabby Chic! See less
