The framed painting measures approx. 9 5/8 inches X 13 inches and approx. 1 inch thick. The painting measures approx. 8 1/8 inches X 11 1/2 inches. New England, mid 20th Century. Rhode Island artist, John Wilfred Dawson (1888-). Oil on board. Impressionism. Large green fishing boat docked alongside a fisherman working in a john boat. Coastal town of house across the water in the background. Signed, "John W. Dawson" in lower left corner by artist. Handwritten inscription on back reads, "Galiee-RI Fishing Boats. - Jerusalem in Distance / 1947 J. W. Dawson". Painting is encased in decorative gold gilt gesso period frame. Wire on back for hanging on wall. Excellent vintage condition. Shows minor wear commensurate with age. See photos. Displays attractive!
