A pair of original wall sconces by Markslöjd, manufactured in Kinna, Sweden — one of Northern Europe's foremost lighting manufacturers, founded in 1963 in Mark's municipality. Both sconces are marked with the original Markslöjd Kinna paper label and stamped with the catalogue model number 1963 on the wooden mount, providing dual confirmation of maker and reference.
The design represents the brand's transitional language between Scandinavian Modern and country revival aesthetics. A stained pine wall mount supports a black metal articulating swing arm, from which rises a white lacquered turned wood column. The shade is suspended from the column's tip, with the original cord descending alongside. The combination of dark and light woods is original and characteristic of the late 1960s and early 1970s production.
The 15-inch articulating swing arm provides ample reach for use as a directional reading sconce beside a bed or armchair, while folding flush to the wall when not in use.
The cream cotton shades feature original broderie anglaise embroidery — an open-work embroidered band of floral motifs around the lower body — finished with original silk-blend fringe trim. Both shades retain their original pleated crowns and are in excellent untouched condition with no stains, tears, or repairs. Complete original textile shades of this age and quality are exceptionally rare in the secondary market
