Love knows no time...years, decades, centuries, millennium...it always warms the heart and here is a Caveman couple to prove it. Adorable art pottery sculpture by Italian artist and designer, Marcello Fantoni (1915-2011), featuring a courting Caveman couple in earth tone shades. I love all the details including the locked eyes, footsy play, flower gift and club for fighting off rival suitors. Fantoni created his Caveman series for Raymor starting in the 1950's...I believe this one was created in the 1960's. It is actually designed to be a 'shelf hanger' and can sit on the ledge of any flat surface. Signed at the back and with original Raymor paper labels. Acrylic stand used for photographing is not included.
The piece is in good condition though it has been professionally touched up in three areas that had chips and loss of finish. Please see photographs 14, 15 and 16. Though it was designed to be a shelf hanger, I would highly recommend that the cave-couple sit on top of a stack of books or a stand rather than a ledge to prevent the risk of future breaks or chips.
The couple measures 7.75" tall x 6.75" wide x 3" deep.
