Eames lounge chair and matching ottoman, models 670 and 671, designed by Charles and Ray Eames and produced by Herman Miller in the 1970s.
This is one of those pieces that doesn’t really need much introduction. The shape is instantly recognizable, with the three curved plywood shells and the soft leather cushions sitting inside. It has that balance between structure and comfort that makes it work so well.
The rosewood veneer has a strong, deep grain that gives the chair a lot of character, especially against the black leather. The cushions are soft with that classic button detail, and the chair has a natural recline that makes it very comfortable to sit in.
The base is in cast aluminum with a black finish, giving it a stable feel while still keeping the overall look light.
Chair height is about 31.9 inches, seat height around 15.7 inches, width approximately 33.5 inches, and depth about 33.1 inches. The ottoman is around 16.5 inches high, 26 inches wide, and 20.9 inches deep.
What we like about it is how comfortable it is without losing its structure. It’s a design that has been around for a long time, but it still feels relevant and easy to live with.
As with all vintage pieces, signs of use are part of the story. Colors can look slightly different depending on the light. If you’d like more details, just let me know.
