Antique English 1815-1830 white stoneware milk pitcher sprigged with very uncommon classical blue figures engaged in country pursuits. Marked on the bottom with a blue rectangular pad impressed with the number 115.
A smaller version of the same jug is pictured and described on page 109 of the book "An Illustrated Guide to British Jugs" which also notes that few examples have been recorded. In the style of Wedgwood jasperware though probably by Turner or Adams.
Measures 7.5" tall x 7.5" over handle and spout. Good condition - minor discoloration on some of the sprigs and a small missing piece of sprigging on one figure.
