A very attractive antique 'Zanzibar' teak and brass stud work with copper overlay dowry chest, circa 1850.
A fine quality antique Zanzibar dowry chest, the hinge lidded chest is profusely decorated with brass studwork and copper cladding in geometric designs. The chest has substantial brass carrying handles to the side, the lid with engraved strap hinges to the underside and a heavy brass locking hasp to the front. Inside is a clean and aroma free storage area, with a lidded candle till to the right side.
The front of the chest is also elegantly decorated with geometric brass studwork and coper cladding, with two panels containing large roundels to the center. The chest is raised on bracket feet.
This handsome antique chest is in excellent antique condition and is ready to grace your space.
