muller van severen’s pillow sofa modular arrives at bd. Initially designed by mvs for kassl editions, the pillow sofa has been improved into a new playful and modular system for bd. The independent pillows are crisp and richly hued, perfect for puzzling together to create a fusion of comfortable seating arrangements. Edges curve smoothly and combine into an array of environments where style and grace meet a plush expression of form. One where cushions mix, match, adapt, and grow, wherever they are.

about the designer:
muller van severen was founded in 2011 by belgian artist duo fien muller and hannes van severen. They are both artists, and their work showcases their appreciation of the natural beauty of materials and how materials can speak for themselves. Working between design and art, the couple has always been on an inspired quest for sculpturally interesting design objects and furniture. Their creations are globally identified in both private homes and public spaces. All of muller van severens own production pieces are handmade by small-scale fabricators and skilled artisans, with an honesty to the rawness and irregularity of the chosen material.

about the manufacturer:
we are an international design company run by a collective ownership —apartamento magazine (nacho alegre, omar sosa, marco velardi), taller bofill (pablo bofill, ricardo bofill, luna paiva, hernán cortés, fernando de la mata), and igor urdampilleta from arquitectura-g— all architects, publishers and designers. Along with one of the founders, oscar tusquets, this group fosters the same nonconformist spirit bd has had since its beginnings. Our independence as a company fuels our intentions and supports this purpose. We are now expanding our design dialogue to delve into diverse realms of creativity, in design and in everything we do.
bd has been around for over half a century. It was founded in a nightclub in 1972 by a bunch of young architects and designers from barcelona. They broke into the design world with a new vision: to produce and market their designs, and the designs of their friends with complete creative freedom and design criteria. Beginning with the designs of contemporaries like ettore sottsass, rennie mackintosh and álvaro siza, bd provoked a curiosity about design. These early pieces helped bring international recognition to the country’s design scene, and many of them still exist today. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
