The painting is rendered in a muted naturalist palette of green, gray, ochre, and brown tones, with loose brushwork and atmospheric handling.

Presented in a gilt wood frame. The reverse shows an older stretcher and remnants of paper backing, along with a partial Chicago label reading “Vine Art,” Chicago, No. 626. Later metal corner fasteners, screws, and hanging wire have been added to the back. The painting is its original form and no signs of previous restoration have been noted. Looks like original varnish.

The painting was acquired from a prominent Las Vegas collector estate and was passed on that the painting previous was acquired from the director of the original Planet of the Apes, William Eckhardt; provenance is by report and has not been independently verified, but I have no reason to believe for this not to be true, but the records of sale of that time are challenging to find.
