A 1936 pastel on paper portrait by San Francisco artist Clyde F. Seavey (1904-1991). Dark bobbed hair, flushed cheekbones, a crimson blouse with a cameo brooch at the collar. Seavey studied at UC Berkeley and the California College of Arts and Crafts, worked as a commercial illustrator for The American Weekly, and exhibited throughout San Francisco in the 1960s. His portraits of his wife, Peruvian-born Adele de Izcue, are among the most sought-after works in his catalog.
Signed lower right. Verso bears the original estate inscription: title ("Girl's Head"), artist name, date (1936), dimensions, medium, and inventory number.
Archivally framed with Conservation Clear UV glass, acid-free mat, and linen hinging tape.
