Abstract - minimalist artwork
Two minimalist artworks – textured assemblages on panels, signed “BRUNET”.
The works feature a light, textured surface, reminiscent of industrial or architectural materials such as concrete or plaster.
Measures : ~32x3cm
Signed on the back and titled.
Marie-Françoise Brunet (Paris 1933).
In 1950, at the age of 17, she took classes with the painter Jean Souverbie, a family friend. She then entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, in Souverbie's class. Among her classmates was Claude Garache.
Her first solo exhibition was held in 1958 at the Maison des Beaux-Arts, on the rue des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
Others followed, notably at the Galerie Étienne de Cousance, also in Paris.
She entered the Prix de Rome competition in 1959.
That same year, at the École des Beaux-Arts, she met Jean Hamon, who would become her husband.
from 1972 onward, for twenty years, she exhibited with her husband at the Salon "Réalités Nouvelles."
She lived in Paris until 1971, then settled near Rambouillet. Her brother-in-law, Pierre Hamon, is also a painter.
He lives and works in Italy. In 2000, she moved to Belgium with her husband.
She has exhibited several times at the Alfican Gallery and in the Grand Sablon (Brussels).
Until 1980, she signed her work F. or Françoise Brunet. After that date, she signed it Marie Brunet. This piece has an attribution mark,
