Very magnificent Baroque hall cabinet from a known aristocratic residence of the Austrian monarchy. This so-called Maria Theresa Cabinet, Austria, mid-18th century, features a softwood body that can be disassembled using wedge joints, with a removable profiled cornice and base, angled stepped pilasters, a curved front with two doors, walnut veneer, and marquetry with other fine woods such as plum, maple, and walnut burl in field and strapwork patterns. The cabinet is hand-polished and has its original box lock. This museum piece impresses with its particularly elaborate inlays/marquetry and the original lock/key.
