This Art Deco sideboard, dating from the early 1920s or 1930s, is a piece of refined cabinetmaking that exemplifies the stylistic transition of the interwar period. It is topped with a magnificent original Rouge Royal marble slab, characterized by its deep hues ranging from burgundy to brown, veined with white and gray.
The piece is crafted from high-quality solid oak. The front is a remarkable example of Art Deco aesthetics, combining architectural and naturalistic elements. The two doors are adorned with superb bas-relief carved panels depicting stylized floral motifs (possibly pomegranates or peonies), a theme much favored by decorators of the time such as Maurice Dufrêne and Paul Follot.
Between the two doors, an elegant fluted and carved column structures the composition, while the upper and lower rails echo the floral decoration. The sideboard also opens to reveal two upper drawers with their original hammered wrought iron handles, featuring clean, geometric lines.
The interior is neat and tidy, equipped with an adjustable wooden shelf, offering ample storage space. The piece rests on delicately carved front legs and straight rear legs. The patina is original, warm, and deep.
This sideboard is a unique piece that will bring character and elegance to a classic or contemporary interior.
