Vienna Secession armchair with matching footstool, attributed to Josef Hoffmann, executed in Austria circa 1910. The design reflects the principles of the Otto Wagner school, combining architectural clarity with refined decorative geometry.
The piece has been newly upholstered in a high-quality fabric by Backhausen, a historic Viennese textile producer closely associated with Wiener Werkstätte designs. The geometric pattern reinforces the structured aesthetic characteristic of Hoffmann’s work.
The elegant proportions, curved armrests, and integrated stool suggest use within a refined Secessionist interior, where furniture formed part of a cohesive architectural concept. A rare and highly decorative ensemble representing early Austrian modernism. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
