This striking table lamp is fashioned from a vintage English tole tea caddy, dating to the late 20th century (circa 1980). The cylindrical base features a warm, antiqued ochre ground adorned with a hand-painted or lithographed Colonial-era vignette. The scene depicts figures in a tropical landscape, framed by an elegant black and gold oval border with scrolling foliate accents.
The neck of the caddy is decorated with a classic Greek key motif, while the lid is prominently marked with the numeral "9" inside a decorative cartouche. Topped with a neutral linen drum shade, this piece blends historical Chinoiserie influence with classic British decorative arts.
