Nesso table lamp, designed by giancarlo mattioli with the città nuova urban architects group for artemide, late 1960s.
this is a first edition from the 1970s in fiberglass, preceding the abs versions: more textured, slightly irregular, and with a decidedly more "lively" presence.
its organic and futuristic shape consists of a cylindrical base and a mushroom-shaped diffuser that distributes light softly and envelopingly. A perfect example of italian space age design, where function and sculpture merge.
also exhibited at the museum of modern art, it is now considered one of the most iconic lamps of 20th-century design.
