A graphic black-and-white study of a classic typewriter — a design masterpiece by remington rand. This particular model, a kmc, circa 1947, appears understated in a gun-metal brown-grey tone. Its smooth curves and elegant structure give it a refined presence without excess bulk. Remington typewriters were among the first to adopt the qwerty keyboard layout developed by christopher sholes, a design that would go on to dominate modern typing. The remington brand would later expand beyond typewriters into firearms — most famously the colt m1911 pistol — before eventually entering the early computer age with the groundbreaking univac i.
many will also remember the brand from television advertising, particularly the electric razor campaigns fronted by victor kiam.
