Patricia urquiola bowl sofa for cassina the soft, welcoming lines of this sofa spell comfort and flexibility. Circular, semi-circular and rectangular shapes alternate to create a dynamic interplay of contours and a graphic silhouette. A sectional floor sofa that offers various backrest and seat options to be used as stand-alone sculptural elements or to pair in ample arrangements; add design ottomans and coffee tables for decorator flair. The rounded armrest joins the high backrest, projecting over the edge of the seat, while the upholstery stitching detail that outlines the shape of each piece offers ample proof of the artisan skills cassina is known for. Padding cfc-free polyurethane foam. Upholstery removable leather or fabric. An inventive modular sofa, with soft, inviting curves that bespeak comfort to the max and extreme versatility. The rounded arm-rests curve to meet the back, the shape expressing the crafts excellence synonymous with cassina’s crafts expertise, more evidence of which can be seen in the upholstery edge-stitching that delineates the lines of the various elements. The sofa is composed of single units that have been conceived as if they were tiny sculptures, so they work equally well as part of a team or as stand-alones. The metal frame is upholstered in injected expanded polyurethane foam, with dacron covers, to provide a generous and comfortable seat. The 1970s’ inspiration comes through also in the low tables that reflect the sofa’s soft profile, the painted frame meeting the elegant material quality of the wooden table-top. Designed to work together, one over the other, or abutting each other, these tables can be used to break up the lines of the sofa, but are equally at home as stand-alone coffee tables.
