Following an aesthetic … Read more This 2008 unique piece by Hans Georg Patrick Pahl (Atelier Cologne) is a manifesto of material honesty. Following an aesthetic reminiscent of Philip Johnson's architectural radicalism, no joints or processing marks are hidden. The solid cherry wood top retains its raw character: the original plane marks and tool traces remain tactually and visually present. The multiplex frame openly displays its supportive function. The sculptural legs are a complex
assemblage of solid wood, blockboard, and industrial timber, with their diverse profiles (round, triangular, and polygonal) joined without any concealment. An object for collectors seeking the "unfinished" and the natural state of materials. It is less a piece of furniture and more a livable sculpture. Signed and dated with the original studio stamp on the underside.
