envisioned in tokyo in 1953 by charlotte perriand and still remarkably relevant today, this modular system can be used as a low coffee table, bench, or – with cushions – as a sofa.

the uncluttered shapes, fruit of a project guided by functional design principles and by an asian-inspired simplification of form, make it ideal for modern living rooms, for resting and conversation.

the top is made up of 19 strips of wood and supported on graceful legs; a simple anchoring system allows the sofa seat cushions and those for the backrest to be positioned at any point along the structure.

The design prioritised functionality, leading the designer to simplify shapes, drawing her inspiration from the orient. Set at an ideal height for a variety of tasks, the horizontal plane is composed of 19 parallel strips of wood in either natural or dark stained oak, supported by two or three legs. The padded seats are integrated harmoniously using a simple anchoring device, so they can be located wherever required. Ideal for the living room or other areas where people can unwind, refolo lends itself to a variety of configurations to enhance relaxation and conversation.
