Upon opening, intricate gold makie scenes inspired by Hokusai’s celebrated Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji are revealed—transforming each piece into a moment of discovery. This contrast between restraint and ornamentation reflects a distinctly Japanese aesthetic sensibility.

The set is signed “Kihachi,” indicating an identifiable maker, and is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (kiribako), inscribed with both the artist’s name and “suimono-wan” (soup bowls).
