This exceptional oversized Persian Bidjar (Bijar) rug, handwoven in the early 20th century in a geometric medallion pattern. This particular piece features a striking open-field design in a richly abrash red, lending depth and texture to the composition. The corner spandrels are adorned with classic Herati motifs and accentuated by a nuanced palette of French blue, pink, cream, brown, and yellow. At the heart of the rug lies a commanding navy medallion, surrounded by an intricately jagged-edge border in French blue and yellow that gracefully frames the central field.
The rug’s primary border is a true standout—woven in a beautiful abrash French blue and baby blue, it showcases finely executed geometric motifs in pink, green, red, and brown. Complementing this are cream-colored secondary borders featuring patterns in abrash green, adding balance and harmony to the overall design.
