A group of people gathers for typical Dutch buildings. In the distance you can see a stone arch bridge. Nijland has perfectly captured the charm of the 19th-century Netherlands in this richly rendered oil on canvas painting.
The scene seems to date back to the 19th century. The painting itself was probably made in the early or mid-20th century. The artwork is surrounded by a ornately carved, gold painted wood frame with an antique look.
77cm loaf x 4.5 thick x 67cm high
The painting is signed "Nijland". Probably painted by the Dutch artist Gerard Nijland - however, this has not been confirmed.
Found in Leiden, Netherlands. The artwork is in original vintage condition. There is no serious damage.
