Vintage Franz Kafka novel, The Trial. Written between 1914-1915 and published posthumously in 1925, the novel focuses on a man named Josef K. who is arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority for an unspecified crime, with the nature of the charge never revealed to him or the reader. The story follows K.'s futile attempts to navigate a nightmarish, absurd legal system, exploring themes of alienation, bureaucracy, guilt, and the meaninglessness of existence. Sound familiar?
Despite Kafka's wish for it to be burned, his friend Max Brod edited and published the unfinished manuscript, which has become one of Kafka's most famous works. This Limited Edition is in excellent condition and is housed in the original slipcase.
