Founded in 1924 just outside Washington, D.C., Congressional Country Club quickly established itself as one of the country’s leading golf clubs, hosting the U.S. Open the same year it opened.
Its Blue Course, designed by Devereux Emmet, has since welcomed some of the game’s most significant championships, including multiple U.S. Opens and the 1976 PGA Championship. Owing to its proximity to the capital, the club has long drawn presidents and policymakers—most notably Dwight D. Eisenhower, a regular on its fairways.
Today, Congressional remains a defining venue in American golf.
