This impressive 12-inch wide hand-coiled bear sculpture is a masterful example of contemporary Acoma Pueblo artistry. Created by a member of the renowned Concho family of potters, the piece features the iconic "Eye Dazzler" and fine-line geometric motifs, showcasing the incredible precision of the New Mexico pueblo tradition.
At 8 inches high and 12 inches wide, this is a substantial gallery-sized piece. The contrast between the stark white kaolin slip and the intricate black and terracotta patterns creates a powerful, modern silhouette. The piece is signed on the bottom, "Concho, Acoma, NM," certifying its authentic origin.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The pigments are vibrant, and the line work is exceptionally crisp.
Design: Traditional Acoma polychrome featuring hachured "rain" lines and geometric feather motifs.
