Circa 1940, she is in … Read more This is a Vintage Chinese 24.5” tall Rosewood Kuan Yin (Bodhisattva, goddess of compassion) figurine. Circa 1940, she is in excellent condition and is standing on large Lotus Flowers. This statue is hand carved from solid wood and weighs apx 20lbs. She is holding her traditional willow branch, representing adaptability and resilience—the ability to bend without breaking. The Lotus flower holds profound symbolism representing purity, enlightenment, and rebirth due to its unique characteristic of flourishing in muddy waters. She has a small flaw in the wood on the back of her headdress (see closeup) and a few light scratches on the bottom of the base. This statue was made in Hong Kong. See less
