Joan Miro was a Catalan artist, best known for pioneering surrealism by combining childlike, dreamlike imagery with Catalan pride. He painted with some of the greats, including Pablo Picasso, and eventually earned international acclaim for his style, ultimately establishing himself as a key figure in 20th-century art.
This is an exceptional lithograph, handsigned by Joan Miro in pencil in the lower right corner.
The most impressive detail of this piece lies in the lower left corner, "E. A", which stands for the French term, "épreuve d'artiste", meaning Artist's Proof. An E.A. print is a special subset of a limited edition run, often reserved for the artist to keep for their own collection or personal use.
This piece was purchased at an estate sale in Palm Beach, Florida. We have collected Miro's artwork for quite a while and believe it to be authentic. To our knowledge, it has not been professionally authenticated.
The paper shows typical signs of age and wear. The frame and glass are both in good condition with no flaws or chips.
