A rare and highly collectible early 1920s Felix the Cat mohair plush, representing one of the first globally recognized animated icons of the silent film era. Felix’s bold, graphic design translated beautifully into early licensed toys, with examples like this produced by notable European makers of the period.
This charming figure features classic articulated construction, with fully jointed arms and legs, a fixed tail, and a gently hunched posture that captures the character’s original cartoon form. The head is movable, and the expressive googly eyes give Felix his unmistakable personality. Inside, the original chest squeaker remains intact and functional—an increasingly uncommon detail.
He is adorned with a red bow secured by a pin (showing minor age-related rust). The felt mouth is complete and well-preserved, complemented by an embroidered nose and intact felt ears.
The mohair covering remains impressively intact for its age, with only light, even wear and minimal thinning. Overall, the piece presents cleanly and displays beautifully.
Early Felix plush toys in this condition are becoming harder to source, especially with original features so well preserved. As expected for toys of this era, the piece retains a faint excelsior-filled vintage scent, typical of early 20th-century materials and storage methods—something seasoned collectors will recognize.
