Artist Statement:

As a New York based documentary/portrait photographer of women I decided to create a series of unique series of black and white botanicals titled Gymnopédies. I have since segued into creating beautiful color images as well. The limited-edition series takes its name from a trio of piano compositions by 19th century French composer Erik Satie. Void of connotation, the unusual title freed Satie from stylistic constraints and gifted his audience a new experience of music. My Gymnopédies series encourage a similar foray in the realm of flower photography. Applying the art form of chiaroscuro, the dramatic application of light abstracts and anthropomorphizes, exposing some of nature’s more subversive personalities.
