The drum-shaped body is constructed from solid pine staves, each gently charred in the classic brännteknik technique that deepens the natural grain into warm amber-honey tones. Crisp panels of white hessian (jute) are set between the staves, filtering the light into a soft, diffused glow and creating a beautiful contrast between the dark wood tones and the pale natural fiber.
The staves are ornamented with hand-applied rosettes of curled wood shavings — known in Swedish as spånrosor — a defining motif of rural Scandinavian craft from this era, associated with named workshops such as Byalaget and Solbackens Svarveri. When lit, the piece casts wonderfully graphic shadow patterns across the ceiling and walls; unlit, it reads as a sculptural design object in its own right.
