A sculptural Swedish ceiling pendant from the 1970s, signed Byalaget — a traditional Swedish craft workshop whose name translates as "the village collective." The drum-shaped body is built from sixteen solid pine staves gently charred in the brännteknik technique, revealing the natural grain in deep amber tones. Between each stave, panels of warm hessian (jute) filter the light into a diffused, honey-colored glow; the staves themselves are ornamented with hand-applied rosettes of curled wood shavings, known in Swedish as spånrosor, in the classic Nordic folk-craft vocabulary.
The lamp casts wonderfully graphic linear shadows when lit — an atmospheric piece that anchors a rustic Scandinavian dining room, a contemporary Japandi kitchen island, a reading nook, a countryside cabin (stuga), chalet, or any room that welcomes warm natural materials. The sculptural silhouette reads equally well unlit, as a piece of Nordic design-object presence.
Signed with the original Byalaget paper label to the interior of the top panel (photographed). A rare survivor in beautiful condition, fully retaining its original character and material integrity.

Excellent vintage condition consistent with age and careful household use. The solid pine staves retain their warm brännteknik finish with no splits, chips, warping, or finish loss. All sixteen wood-shaving rosette medallions are fully intact with tight original curls, no flattening, crushing, or missing pieces. The hessian (jute) panels between the staves are clean, taut, and structurally sound, with no tears, sagging, or fraying. The original Byalaget paper label is present and legible on the interior top panel (photographed). The wooden top plate with ventilation holes is clean and undamaged. The original white plastic ceiling canopy, suspension cord, and European two-pin plug are all present in good cosmetic condition.
