Le corbusier 6 table tube d'avion for cassina expression of the lengthy research conducted by cassina on the masterpieces of the great masters, the table tube d’avion design table is one of the first studio models introduced by le corbusier, pierre jeanneret and charlotte perriand at the salon d’automne in paris in 1929. The uniqueness of this made in italy piece lies in the distinction between the support piece and the piece being supported, in other words, between the top and the base; the latter designed with reference to the oval profiles used in the aeronautical sector to separate the wings of biplanes. The current version of the iconic rectangular table has a steel base painted in the le corbusier palette of colours, while the top comes in clear glass, textured glass, or in luxurious bianco carrara or nero marquinia marble. Top clear, textured glass, marble. Base painted steel. Paint colors from the le corbusier palette. The core concept for the table tube d’avion table, introduced in 1929 at the salon d’automne [autumn salon], lies in the distinction between the support piece and the piece being supported; in other words, between the base and the top. The separation of the two parts is highlighted by the four intermediate supports that serve both as level adjusters and as spacers between the mass of the support and the slender lines of the top. Specifically, the base was designed in 1928, taking its cue from the oval profiles used in the aeronautical sector to separate the wings of biplanes. The current model has a steel base painted in the le corbusier palette of colours, while the top comes in clear glass, textured glass, or in luxurious bianco carrara or nero marquinia marble.
