Mid century Frederic Remington bronze sculpture titled The Cheyenne, produced by Roman Bronze Works, New York. The Cheyenne was his sixth sculpture and his most daring design. Mounted on an oval green marble base.
In 1901 Remington modeled the Cheyenne man racing on horseback in conjunction with Roman Bronze Works using the lost wax method. The muscular rider, wearing only a loincloth and moccasins, leans forward, clutching a spear and a quirt. His mount is depicted at full gallop (burning the air), ears back, tail flowing, and all four hooves off the ground.
