This Lalique Rooster Head (formally titled Tête de Coq) is a celebrated piece of French Art Deco crystal. Originally designed by René Lalique in 1928, it was initially created as a luxury hood ornament or prestigious vehicles like Bentley and Rolls-Royce before being adapted into decorative statuettes and paperweights.
At 7” tall, this vintage circa 1970 showcases Lalique's signature contrasting satin-finished (frosted) crystal and brilliant polished clear crystal adding depth and definition to the plumage, with high relief details enhancing the its dramatic sculptural look.
The signature, ‘Lalique ® France,’ is etched ion the bottom of base; the original clear adhesive label that reads ‘Lalique Paris’ is still attached to the crystal base.
Dimensions approximately 7ʺW × 2.75ʺD × 7.25ʺH.
The roster is in excellent condition - No scratches, chips, or ‘clouding.’ Faint scratch on the underside of the base consistent with light shelf wear where the base touches surfaces.
NOTE: The flecks seen in photos are lint and dust behind piece, and irregular areas are reflection of light.
Convenient Pick up Option: Murray Hill, New York. Lounge area of lobby with doorman. (safe and comfortable)
