Our commanding 3-piece architectural rattan suite, including one three-seat sofa and two matching club chairs, is completed with 10 custom-tailored cushions. Each rattan piece is built with a heavy 4-strand stacked rattan base—a premium Mid-Century construction that offers a substantial, architectural presence far superior to typical vintage wicker. The frames have been professionally refinished to highlight a warm, sun-drenched patina that glows against the natural reed strappings.
While structurally robust and ready for immediate use, the set proudly wears its 70-year history. You will find authentic signs of 'loved' vintage condition, including age-appropriate wear to a few decorative reed wraps and minor breaks in the stacked rattan (notably on the sofa and one chair). We have chosen to leave these 'ghosts' of the past intact, offering the next owner a piece that is beautiful and functional today, without the 'over-restored' price tag and the fear of actually sitting on it.
While the original paper labels have departed, the quality of the bentwood curves and the heavy-gauge rattan are consistent with the legendary output of Ficks Reed or The Ritts Company.
The cushions were custom-commissioned for this suite in a textile specifically selected to 'bridge' these organic frames with our Brown Jordan 'Calcutta' cast aluminum dining set (available in a separate listing). This creates a seamless, curated transition from the sunroom to the terrace. Both the rattan and the aluminum have spent a decade overlooking the gardens of the Hugh Stubbins 'Idea Home' of 1955 in Eugene, Oregon. They are ready for their next celebrated summer on your patio.

The sofa has … moreOne club chair has two sections of the stack that has been broken and the pieces missing. The sofa has a single place where the stack is broken but the piece remains in place. These are relatively minor issues with the stack and both club chair and sofa are solid, there is no impact to the seating. The sofa also has on reed strapping that, although still in place, cannot simply be glued down. However, this flaw is behind the seat cushion and barely noticeable from the back. It has no impact on the structural integrity of the sofa. less
