Charming Mid-19th Century French Fruitwood Farmhouse Dining Table with Beautiful Warm Patina, Seating 8
Bring authentic French country character into your home with this delightful mid-19th century fruitwood farmhouse kitchen dining table. Rich in charm and full of warmth, it offers the perfect blend of decorative appeal and everyday practicality. The beautifully figured plank top, with traditional cleated ends, showcases a lovely, naturally aged patina developed over more than 150 years of use. Designed to minimise movement in the long boards, the cleated ends mean the top remains stable and functional, just as it was when first made.
Beneath the top sits an attractive shaped frieze, incorporating a useful central drawer, an additional drawer to one end, and a generous pull out bread or serving slide at the opposite end. Originally intended for chopping and serving bread, this slide now offers extra serving or prep space when needed. The frame and top are traditionally constructed, with pegged joints typical of quality 19th century craftsmanship.
Elegant cabriole legs give the table a refined silhouette while remaining sturdy and strong. The stretcherless design is a particular advantage, allowing chairs to be placed anywhere around the table without obstruction, and making seating for up to 8 people comfortable and practical.
Naturally wax polished by our specialist antique restorers, the table has been gently cleaned and finished in the traditional manner to enhance the depth and lustre of the fruitwood, while preserving its original surfaces. Minor old wear, entirely consistent with age and use, only adds to its charm and authenticity.
Retaining its original character and warmth, this mid-19th century French country fruitwood farmhouse dining table is not only a practical family table, but also a superb example of enduring rural craftsmanship, ready to place straight into your home.
