This finely woven antique Burlu Oushak from the late 19th century bears a remarkably sophisticated palette of soft colors, such as gold, light green, silver, salmon, pink and cream. The floral designs in the border and cornices reach inward to form the elegantly scalloped outline of the supple central field. At its center floats an understated medallion with refined laurel leafed palmettes on opposite ends. A broad border contains a repeated pattern of complementary palmettes paired with flowering blossoms and branching floral motifs. The exquisite design, understated palette and refined elegance of this antique Oushak make it uniquely qualified as a masterpiece in Turkish artistic craftsmanship.
