This superb and massive white marble vase, richly detailed with timeless charm, is visually striking.

Subject and Style: The clearly neoclassical-inspired design features a flared crater shape, magnificently embellished with four powerful ram heads carved in high relief. Completing the rich decorative scheme, refined floral and wheat stalk motifs alternate among the animal figures, all supported by a solid, flat, circular base.

Material and Finish: The work was masterfully carved and hand-carved from a single, imposing block of white marble, as its impressive weight of nearly 31 kg clearly demonstrates. Exposure to the elements over the decades has given the surface a splendid and authentic historical patina, with the typical textural variations of aged marble.
