Gaudì chair designed by vico magistretti for artemide, 1970s.
an absolute icon of italian modernism, the gaudì chair is renowned for its organic lines and revolutionary monocoque structure, which has earned it permanent collections in the most prestigious museums, including the moma in new york.
the material is a fiberglass-reinforced resin, in keeping with magistretti's concept of "resistance through form": giving solidity to the object not by increasing the thickness of the plastic, but by expertly curving it.
the hot-stamped logo is underneath the seat: the words "patent pending" indicate one of the first editions produced.
the chocolate brown color
the chairs are in excellent vintage condition. They show slight superficial signs of aging, attesting to their originality and age, but the structure is intact, free of cracks or breaks. One is missing a rubber pad.
