The painting is signed bottom right, is titled to the back stretcher 'Moisson a Champagne sur Oise' and carries an exhibition label with full artist biography.

A charming painting which vividly captures a rural harvest scene, featuring a group of labourers immersed in the bustling activity of gathering wheat. The use of soft, earthy tones brings authenticity and warmth to the landscape, while loose brushwork superbly conveys the texture of the wheat fields. The composition is animated by the dynamic postures of the figures, attentively engaged in their toil. Chagniot was a pupil of Pierre Eugène Montézin and Édouard Vuillard, he exhibited at the Salon, of which he became a member in 1938.
