This rare … Read more A striking and sculptural swedish art deco bronze candleholder / ashtray by guldsmedsaktiebolaget (gab), dating to the 1930s. This rare and highly decorative piece features a stylized female nude figure standing atop a stepped pedestal, gracefully supporting a candle socket at shoulder height. The figure rises from the center of a geometric square tray with subtly raised dish, framed by bold, symmetrical ridged details at each side—an architectural motif characteristic of the art deco movement. The composition balances sculptural elegance with functional design, embodying the refined minimalism and craftsmanship of scandinavian modernism. The warm, naturally aged bronze surface displays a rich and varied patina, enhancing the depth of the form and emphasizing the piece’s vintage character.
