Pair of Scandinavian Brutalist Ceramic Table Lamps by Guldkroken, Sweden, 1960s
A striking pair of Scandinavian brutalist table lamps by Guldkroken Keramik, Sweden, dating to the 1960s—beautifully embodying the era’s fascination with raw texture, earthy materials, and sculptural form.
Each lamp features a tall, cylindrical ceramic body with a richly textured, hand-worked surface. The glaze reveals deep brown and charcoal tones with subtle variations, giving the pieces a tactile, almost architectural presence. Around the lower section, a band of relief decoration adds rhythm and depth, reinforcing the handcrafted character.
The proportions are particularly elegant: standing at 44.5 cm (17.5 in) in height with a diameter of 14 cm (5.5 in), the lamps strike a perfect balance between verticality and volume. Their silhouette is clean and restrained, allowing the materiality to take center stage.
When lit, the lamps create a warm, atmospheric glow that contrasts beautifully with the darker ceramic bodies—an effect that is quintessentially Scandinavian, where light is used to soften and animate solid forms.
Produced by Guldkrokens Keramik, a respected Swedish ceramics manufacturer known for its high-quality mid-century decorative and functional objects, these lamps reflect the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and material expression.
Offered as a pair, they are ideal for use as bedside lamps or as symmetrical accents in a refined interior. Their sculptural presence also makes them highly effective as standalone decorative objects.
The lamps have been rewired with textile cables and are fitted with European plugs, ready for immediate use. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
