Vestige dogma aluminium table lamp by bureau of entropy. Limited edition, numbered & signed. Dimensions: w 26 x d 26 x h 30 cm. Materials: aluminium. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the usa it will be wired for the usa for instance. Vestige dogma reinterprets the lampshade as a compact, faceted body of controlled weight and directed light. The object begins with a familiar typology, then strips it of softness and ornament until only a more severe structural logic remains. Constructed without visible joins, the lamp is held together through compression and finely calibrated tolerances. No screws, no welds — only material tension, alignment, and measured assembly. Light is directed primarily downward, forming a focused circle with softened edges on the surface below. A secondary glow escapes through four discreet apertures at the top, giving the object a restrained vertical resonance. When viewed from above eye level, vestige dogma reveals its understructure more fully and with it the precision of its construction. It is a small object, but one with the self-possession of something more monumental. The case study. This piece is part of the case study collection, which follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. The work of bureau of entropy follows a narrow corridor defined by function, reduction, and structural necessity. Objects are developed through two primary binding principles: precise interlocking parts with minimal tolerances, and gravity used as a structural agent. Form follows function not as a slogan, but as constraint. Less is more not as style, but as discipline. Within this corridor, forms emerge that recall ancient, culturally tested archetypes — objects whose functions have endured for millennia. Their familiarity is not nostalgic, but structural. Each object represents a specific condition within this ongoing case study. Bureau of entropy is a design collective founded in 2025 by marvin julian freund and matthias figurowicz. The collective is rooted in a shared background in toolmaking craftsmanship, where both founders developed a deep understanding of material behaviour, precision manufacturing, and metalworking processes. This early, hands-on experience continues to inform their approach to construction and structural logic. Following this foundation, freund pursued studies in architecture with a focus on spatial design, proportion, and material presence, while figurowicz studied mechanical engineering, specialising in structure, mechanics, and functional systems. Over time, their distinct disciplines evolved in parallel, shaping complementary perspectives on form and function. In 2025, these paths converged in the formation of bureau of entropy. Today, the collective works at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and craftsmanship, developing furniture and lighting objects that emphasise structural clarity, material intelligence, and reduced form. The work operates between functional object and sculptural presence, positioning itself within the field of collectible design.
