A striking embodiment of postmodern italian design, this exceptional ‘otero’ table lamp is a rare piece created by renowned designer rodolfo dordoni and produced by fontana arte in 1986. Imbued with sculptural presence and refined balance, it is an ideal acquisition for collectors of significant design objects or interior designers seeking a statement piece of lasting value and visual poetry. The lamp features a beautifully composed construction of fine glass elements: three cobalt blue triangular feet form a bold tripod base, anchored by a transparent circular glass disc. The generously proportioned milk glass shade, conical in shape, rises in harmonious contrast, casting a soft, warm illumination when lit. Its geometric purity and material interplay reflect the best of 1980s italian postmodernism, while its scale and elegance lend it remarkable versatility in both modern and classical interiors. Whether placed on a console, sideboard, or pedestal, the ‘otero’ commands attention without excess. In very good vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or structural flaws, this lamp is as pristine as it is rare. A highly decorative and collectible lighting object from the storied house of fontana arte, it exemplifies the thoughtful creativity of dordoni at a defining moment in his career. Rodolfo dordoni (1954–2023) was a celebrated italian architect and designer known for his refined, contemporary aesthetic and masterful use of materials. A central figure in modern italian design, dordoni collaborated with prestigious brands such as fontana arte, minotti, artemide, and flos. His work is marked by a quiet elegance, combining functionality with sculptural form. As art director for several leading companies, he played a key role in shaping the global identity of italian luxury design, leaving a lasting legacy of timeless, sophisticated creations.
