Partial presence condenses the logic of the larger table into a more compact, upright form. Here, perforation does not lighten the object symbolically; it regulates weight, rhythm, and visual density. The aluminium planes remain strict, but their repetition produces a body that feels at once open and concentrated. Used as side table or stool, the piece holds a double reading: furnishing and fragment, utility and compressed structure. Light enters and exits through the grid, allowing the object to extend itself into its surroundings through shadow and reflection. What seems minimal in mass becomes more complex in perception. The collective is rooted in a shared background in toolmaking craftsmanship, where both founders developed a deep understanding of material behaviour, precision manufacturing, and metalworking processes. This early, hands-on experience continues to inform their approach to construction and structural logic. Following this foundation, freund pursued studies in architecture with a focus on spatial design, proportion, and material presence, while figurowicz studied mechanical engineering, specialising in structure, mechanics, and functional systems. Over time, their distinct disciplines evolved in parallel, shaping complementary perspectives on form and function. In 2025, these paths converged in the formation of bureau of entropy. Today, the collective works at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and craftsmanship, developing furniture and lighting objects that emphasise structural clarity, material intelligence, and reduced form.
