The icy water of this Stockholm dock is the center of attention in this closely cropped landscape photography by Jo Crowther.
The bright white hull of this industrial boat leaps out at the viewer, gleaming against the dusky blue hues of the icy, frozen waters in which the boat is docked.
Panels of frozen ice float on the surface of the water, soft and cloudy, adding a gentle element to this otherwise harsh natural environment. It is an environment that few of us are likely to ever experience in the sheer reality of this extreme natural landscape.
The almost symmetrical dimension of Crowther's composition also draws the viewer in. By positioning the boat's bow almost perfectly in the center of the frame, Crowther creates a pleasing and harmonious composition for the viewer.
